Project Description
The complex construction task during ongoing school operations necessitates two main construction phases,
with the second realization phase being further divided into two sub-sections.
The first construction phase of the overall renovation of the Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium includes building section B + expansion of the dining hall / forum, redesign of the forecourt, dining hall garden, and schoolyard connections.
The forecourt and main entrance will be redesigned for barrier-free access. The central elevator system, which provides barrier-free access to all levels in building sections A, B, C, and E, is located directly at the main entrance. The administrative zone will be reorganized so that the ground floor (with offices + secretariat) and the first floor (staff room, offices) are connected by an internal staircase.
A freestanding staircase connects the ground floor and the first floor, providing direct access to the administrative and conference zone, as well as to a surrounding gallery in the forum and the adjacent building sections A, C, and E. At the center of the school complex, a new forum for approximately 450 people is being created, featuring a stage podium and a spatially connectable (sliding wall system) dining area (150 seats).
Both the forum and the dining hall have direct connections to the surrounding outdoor areas. The building complex is being formed through core renovation/conversion as well as by supplementary new building sections, and after renovation, it will meet functional, fire protection, and current energy requirements.
Operating costs can be optimized accordingly.
The extension buildings are solid constructions; the energy efficiency upgrade of the old building facade is achieved through a new thermal insulation composite system with plaster or a curtain wall panel facade.
