Lore-Lorentz Vocational College Düsseldorf

Project Description

Excellence Project of the Energy Agency NW 2009

This is the first passive house school in the state capital of Düsseldorf. The building is constructed using solid construction, with facade cladding made of brick masonry or fiber cement curtain walls. Wood-aluminum window elements are installed as passive house windows. The building features a flat roof with membrane sealing and external drainage. The roof is equipped with a photovoltaic system. The building has a ventilation system with highly efficient heat recovery. Heat is supplied to the building via a heat pump, which extracts thermal energy from the ground through six 99 m deep boreholes. The thermal energy is supplied to the building via concrete core activation and, if necessary, post-heating of the supply air.
