Catholic Primary School and Community Primary School Erlenweg

Project Description

In the first construction phase, the windows in all buildings will be replaced, the roofs renewed, and the facades cleaned. The gymnasium and swimming pool hall will receive a new insulated pitched roof made of a load-bearing, acoustically effective trapezoidal sheet metal and a galvanized aluminum covering, with insulation in between. The adjacent flat roofs will be updated with tapered insulation and new bitumen waterproofing. The building will be insulated internally; the entire building services equipment and sanitary facilities will be renewed and modernized. The escape routes will be prepared in accordance with current fire protection requirements. The gymnasium will be equipped with impact walls, equipment room gates, and retractable equipment, in accordance with current safety requirements. The dilapidated reinforced concrete honeycomb structures with integrated single glazing will be faithfully reconstructed, but closed internally with large-area windows.

In the second construction phase, the school buildings, including the break-time toilet block and the former Pedagogical Center, will undergo general renovation. The aforementioned insulation measures will be carried out. All building services systems will be renewed and modernized. By creating barrier-free access, installing elevators, and accessible toilets, the school buildings will become accessible for people with disabilities. To ensure the necessary escape routes and in accordance with current fire protection requirements, steel escape staircases or an escape bridge will be added, emergency exit doors created, and doors replaced, among other measures, in consultation with the monument preservation authorities.
